My plane landed this morning in Auckland after its 12 hour journey over the Pacific. The sunrise was amazing from 30,000 feet. Fortunately the flight went by pretty quickly- Air New Zealand has some great movie selections- I finally got to see Little Miss Sunshine. I loved it, just like everyone said I would!
The hostel I am staying in is really nice. I am just outside the city center, so it is a little slower pace than the big hostels in Center City. And the people here are super warm and friendly, just like I was hoping. I think I'm going to have a great time here!
I still need to blog about my time in Los Angeles- what a crazy place! I'll add all that in next time, as well as a report from my visit to the farm in Northland!

- I am a 32 year old American woman from Maine. I am going to be traveling in New Zealand for three months, starting in early December 2006. I am interested in getting to know both the people in New Zealand (especially those keen on the outdoors) and the native plants and animals of the NZ ecosystems. In Maine, I am an educator, with experience in libraries and school classrooms. I live on my great-grandfather's old farm which has electricity but no running water. It is a beautiful place, but quite chilly in the winter!
